About The Mann Family Tree
I first became interested in my family tree on retirement to Devon. It was with some suprise that I found nearly all my ancestors on my fathers side came from the Devon area, not far from where I live now. I am still filling up the "holes" in the tree as I gather more information from various sorces. There are still many photographs to be included. Where there are more than one photograph for a subject they will be shown in rotation. The family tree has now extended through the UK, Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
One of my main sources of information is Gloria Marley my 4th cousin once removed who compiled a wonderful book "The Descendents of Grace" Grace was the servant of James Fewings, (My Great X4 Grandfather) a Woolcomber of North Tawton, Devon. In the year 1777 she gave birth to his illegitimate son, christened James after his father but with his mothers surname, Gowman. Also I would like to thank Dr. Jean Shields a long time inhabitant of North Tawton and co author of The Book of North Tawton a very interesting lady and a great guide.
North Tawton was the site of the TV series "Jam & Jerusalem" This website is dedicated to my family and all the allied families that make up a part of our family. This website is here for the purpose to keep a record of where we came from as a family and to help others in their search . for their roots. The sources of my family tree has been provided by many family members, internet researchers and official records. Please let me know if you find any errors. I am glad to share any information you may find here. I am always on the look out for more family photos, please contact me if you have photos of any of these folks you would like to share. Many people have shared their information and their research as well as photos to me for my records. The oldest person in this site is Alice Mules b.1653 who was the Mother in Law of Grace Gowman b.1700
